Scunthorpe dominated and controlled the first half with some good passages of play throughout. The first goal came after 15 minutes when the Ironesses had had a corner cleared but kept the pressure on Hull with an attack down the right with Sue Green crossing in accurately to see Claire West convert with a strong low shot to give the keeper no chance.

Scunthorpe had many chances with Lisa Telford and Donna Smithson coming close but it was Sue Hunsley that doubled there lead with a fierce shot just inside the box to crash home the second.

It was one way traffic and any attack Hull threatened was banished by a solid defence of Cooke,Harrison,Cook and Baker.

Scunthorpe had a goal disallowed when Deb Hearn fired home but alleged pushing in the box meant the goal did not stand so it remained at 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw Hull start with more passion and determination, but even though Hull had a few more attacking plays United worked well as a team and defended when they had to in a very organised professional way. Bek Evans in goal for the Ironesses was commanding and when called upon was brave diving at the feet of the oncoming strikers.

Scunthorpe could have added more to their tally Donna Smithson made a good run into the box late into the game and met a cross coming in from the right with a first time shot that narrowly missed.

No further goals were added in the second half so the score remained 2-0 and the result means Hull City are just about relegated.
