Boston keeper Paul Bastock was presented with a trophy to commemorate him becoming the club's record appearance holder before the game, no mean feat having now surpassed the previous record of 572 appearances.

Brian Laws took his whole first team squad with him to York Street for the Senior County Cup crash. The starting eleven looking suspiciously like the one that will kick off United's 2003/04 league campaign next Saturday, except possibly Richard Kell who Brian Laws warned before the game was playing for a contract as it was make or break time.

A Boston team including Stuart Balmer who had a spell with the Iron last season, Ex-Hull player Mark Greaves and some pygmy career ending cunt called Ben Chapman matched the Iron in what was a typical friendly even if it wasn't strictly a friendly in the first half.

Andy Parton replaced Paul Hayes at half time after he took a slight knock first half, doing well in a rare outing up front.

Ian Kilford made way for Garcia late on and it's fair to say Calvo should have scored to cement the Iron's victory but it mattered not.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute when the impressive Richard Kell won the game and surely a new contract at Glanny Park with his second goal in two games.

Pilgrims right back Lee Thompson was stretched off in the 89th minute with concussion but recovered and is now fine.
