Once again a dull home game, and once again one which writing a report for is a less than appealing prospect.

Despite having the best of the opening periods United weren't creating anything and the Silkmen took the lead after 35 minutes when defender Steve Hitchen fired a left footed shot past Tommy Evans in the home goal.

Matthew Sparrow had wasted the best chance of the game just five minutes earlier, when he pulled his shot wide from twelve yards out after being setup by Nathan Stanton.

The second half opened at a quicker pace, and after winning a succesion of corners United equalised ten minutes in when Steve Torpey headed home from a Andy Dawson corner.

Although this should have given the Iron the incentive to go on and press for a winner, they didn't and the game fizzled out for to a dull draw.

The game was watched by a crowd of 2800, hardly surprising when you consider the underachievement being shown by the players on the pitch in recent games
