Orient off the bottom with win

Leyton Orient dragged themselves off the foot of the League One table as they came from behind early in the second half to beat Scunthorpe 3-2.

It was a second successive win for the Londoners and the second time they have done it having conceding first.

Orient looked full of confidence in the early stages against a Scunthorpe side struggling again this season for home form.

Dean Cox missed a great chance to put the visitors in front before former Orient loanee Andy Barcham opened the scoring for Scunthorpe after 31 minutes with a right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area.

It was tough luck on Russell Slade`s side but they almost levelled when a deflected shot from midfielder Matt Spring was tipped over at full stretch by keeper Sam Johnstone.

There were only 45 second-half seconds on the clock when striker Kevin Lisbie raced through the home defence to squeeze a shot under Johnstone for the equaliser.

Five minutes later he struck again to put Orient in front with a free header from a cross from skipper Steven Dawson.

Centre-back Scott Cuthbert looked to have wrapped the game up for the visitors when he took advantage of some more sloppy home defending to make it 3-1 in the 68th minute, heading home a free-kick from Charlie Daniels.

But just a minute later Barcham gave Scunthorpe some hope when he forced home his second of the game following a corner. That set up a tense finish with the home side pressing strongly, but they could not find an equaliser as the O`s defended with great resolution.
