The playing surface has been under a layer of snow since Wednesday night, with a local referee also set to check the condition of the surface on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's scheduled League One game.

"The club has been onto the match referee to make him aware of the situation, and if there is a decision to be made hopeully he will be able to make it early enough to accomodate the supporters." said Alex boss Dario Gradi.

"It is out of our hands and is entirely up to the officials, if it is playable we will play."

Freezing weather has swept the country, and looks set to force many of the weekend's fixtures to be cancelled.

The big chill is expected to continue over the weekend - with freezing fog, black ice and more snow forecaste.
