Nigel Adkins was delighted with Gary Hooper as he bagged his first hat trick in claret and blue to send United up to fourth in the table.
However he has warned his players to keep their feet on the ground ahead of the home encounter with Carlisle next Saturday.
"We will make sure we coninue to work hard on the training ground to prepare for the next game and make sure too that we don't get carried away with things", he said.
"When you come away from home and score four goals you have to be delighted, that's four on the spin now."
"Gary Hooper has gone and scored a hat-trick, which I'm delighted with."
Brighton boss Micky Adams admitted his side had been outplayed by a "very good" Scunthorpe side.
"They're very, very strong and physical and for large parts of the game we were outmuscled by a bigger and stronger unit than ours."
