Iron boss Brian Laws told the official website: "Peter has been a great ambassador for the club during his time here, he had to take a severe wage cut to come in the first place and again during his time here.
"With his TV work he was looking for a part-time deal with us, and I felt that wasn't in the best interest of the football club. I'd like to wish him well with his new adventure."
