It comes on a day of upheaval that has seen club president Steve Wharton seize back control of the boardroom.

Chris Holland, who only succeeded Wharton as chairman in December, has resigned along with directors Brian Borrill and John Godfrey.

The club's board is now down to four people:  Rex Garton, Simon Elliott, Barry Collen and Wharton.

Holland was close to bringing in former Scotland defender Colin Hendry to work alongside Russ Wilcox for the remainder of the season.

Hendry had visited Glanford Park and was prepared to move to the town.

At a planned board meeting tomorrow Holland was going to reccomend Hendry be given the manager's job, but the appointment has now been scuppered.

Brian Laws will take charge of the side for Saturday's Third Division game at Huddersfield Town.

He had been sacked by the board by a split vote, who were 4-2 against him, after a run of just three wins in 18 games.

Wharton said: "The reappointment of Brian Laws as the manager until at least the end of the season is fundamental to our plans and we are delighted that he has unreservedly accepted our offer.

"As far as we are concerned there is no need to look any further than Brian, who has every attribute we need in a manager as well as an extraordinary passion for the club.

"It is expected that after the re-consitution of the board at a meeting tomorrow the board will consist of myself as chairman, Rex Garton and Simon Elliott.

"This board will be totally committed to the success of the club, I honestly believe we have a great wealth of experience and enthusiasm to ensure all our goals can be achieved.

"We know that we need to further engage the supporters, without them being united it makes everyones life very difficult, and we will be announcing a series of initiatives aimed at better communicting and involving them.

"We will have initiatives such as fans forums, supporting an organised and active supporters club and immediately improving facilities for supporters in the Iron Bar."
