The 24 year old center back becomes the third first team player to leave United this summer, following midfielder Jim Goodwin to the Galpharm.

Butler turned down the best ever contract offer at Scunthorpe to join the Yorkshire club, and revealed that he thinks Ternent's new look side are destined for the Championship.

He told htafc.com: "Scunthorpe has been the only club I've known, so this fresh start is really exciting for me. It's a real buzz to be here and hopefully I can do the business. We seemed destined for promotion, but now it's up to us to do it."

"Obviously I know Jim Goodwin well - he'll be a real asset to the Club. He's a good communicator and he has a great range of passing too".
