Clough and Lillis are fans choice

Our latest site poll asked who you wanted as the club's next manager, giving you eight options based on who we considered the leading candidates in the immediate aftermath of Laws' sacking.

Nigel Clough, manager of Conference side Burton Albion, tops the poll taking a fifth of the overall vote.

Former assistant-manager Mark Lillis, who was number two to Brian Laws when the club won promotion via the play-offs in 1999, is currently at Second Division club Stockport working under Sammy McIllroy.

Peter Beagrie took 11.8 per cent, with 5.5 per cent wanting Paul Groves and 3.6 per cent hoping caretaker manager Russ WIlcox is given the job.

Youth team coach Paul Wilson and former Grimsby, WBA, Lincoln and Rochdale manager Alan Buckley got just 2.7 per cent of support.

34.5 per cent didn't vote for any of the options and thought that someone else should be given the job.

Speculation on the Iron-Bru.net message board suggests that Steve Cotterill, John Gregory or Graham Taylor are the choice of some fans.
