Club give travel guarantee

The high number of trips to away games cancelled when demand does not cover hiring a coach has long been a bone of contention among many Iron fans.

Now chairman Steve Wharton, who apparently knew nothing of the problem, has promised to guarantee coach travel to away games regardless of numbers.

The guarantee initially only covers the first four away trips of the season, but is expected to be extended until the end of the season.

The plan was due to be officially announced at tonight's open meeting of the supporters club in the Iron Bar at Glanford Park.

Supporters club chairman Andy Brown told Iron-Bru.net: "We can guarantee that a coach will run to every game, with at least a 30-seater capacity.

"We'll guarantee a seat to the first 30, and hopefully be able to fill a bigger coach.

"The clubs are still run by the club themselves, not us, but over the course of the season we expect the cost to even itself out - if not we may help out."
