Dawson fully committed to side

Dawson's contract ran out at the end of last season, and he was widely expected to complete a move to first division Norwich with a fee being decided by tribunal if neccesary.

However, the Canaries found that fnances dictated a move was not to take place and they opted for Darlington's Paul Heckingbotham instead.

Dawson has twice turned down new contract offers from the club, and is currently on a weekly contract until he either accepts an offer from Scunthorpe United or another club.

"There has been talk and bits in the papers, but I have done my pre-season here at Scunthorpe and I look forward to the start of the season now," he said yesterday.

"When I was at home in the summer I was enjoying the break and keeping fit, but with the transfer talk, it is just that until anything happens.

"I was thinking about my future, but not too much. Now I am just concentrating on playing here.

"We are looking to get in the top seven at least, and also press for an automatic promotion place.
