Former England manager Taylor, a boyhood Scunthorpe United fan, will take charge of the invitation XI that will play against the 1999 play-off winning team.

He will be in charge of stars such as Jose Antonia Reyes, Gaizka Mendieta, Juninho, Michael Dawson and Mark Hughes.

Alex Calvo-Garcia has repeated his plea for unity at the club, as United have four matches left to preserve their Football League status.

Writing for Iron-Bru.net he said: "Unity is the necessary union that will save the club from relegation, let's all be united for the next four weeks.

"Now we need the support of everybody in Scunthorpe and i would be very happy if everybody was united in support of the team.

"This is why I have asked for my benefit match to be called the Alex Calvo-Garcia benefit match.

"I hope that all the people of Scunthorpe will be looking forward to that match and will be talking about all of the great players who will be there.

"When they do those things I would like them to first of all think about their team now and remember how important it must be that we are all Scunthorpe United."

The match will also see Brian Laws' first return to the club since he left as manager last month.

He will take charge of the 1999 side, with Mark Lillis returning as his assistant.

Russ Wilcox, who has been in charge of the club's first team since Laws' departure, will return to the playing pitch - where he will be hoping his legs can keep up with Hughes and Reyes.

The match is pay on the gate, costing £10 and £5 concessions.
