Harsley 100 per cent committed

26-year-old Harsley joined Macclesfield in February after falling out of favour at Northampton, and is relishing the prospect of playing against some of his former teammates.

He joined United from local rivals Grimsby Town and celebrated his 21st birthday by helping the club to promotion via the 1999 play-off final at Wembley.

Two years later he was released, he joined Halifax for a year before moving onto Northampton.

He is keen not to add to the three relegations he has already experienced as a first-team player.

He told the Macclesfield Express: "Scunthorpe have been on a slippery slope since Christmas but there's absolutely no doubt at all - I want to get a win for Macclesfield which would see us safe.

"I lived in Scunthorpe up until two years ago and all my family still live there, but I came here to play in the Football League and that's what we can make sure of if we win on Saturday."

A win tomorrow, couple with York losing, would see the Iron pull six points away from the relegation zone with two games to spare.

A defeat, and a surprise win for York at league leaders Doncaster, would see Scunthorpe only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

United will give a late fitness test to centre-back Andy Butler ahead of tomorrow's match.

If he doesn't pass then winger Cleveland Taylor will come back into the side, with a switch to a 442 formation.

Iron manager Brian Laws has issued a rallying call urging the club's fans to get behind the team.

He said: "The Scunthorpe supporters have a massive part to play.

"They know the consequences if we don't get the results we require.

"Get behind the team and inspire us because you do play a mjaor part and I'm pleading with you to come out and help us."

The Silkmen are expected to welcome back forward Jonathan Parkin to the squad after a knee injury.

Parkin clashed with Iron forward Steve Torpey earlier in the season while he was a York player, receiving a red card for his troubles.
