Hobson wants to box Iron into shape

Rumours after the Boxing Day defeat at Sheffield United that Hobson was due to join the board were rebuffed by general manager Dave Beeby who declined to comment.

Beeby confirmed talks with individuals were ongoing but refused to be drawn on names, suggesting any decisions were unlikely to be anytime soon.

Hobson, however, has confirmed that he is very interested in joining the board.

"I think I'd bring something different to the table that could maybe help us get out of the situation we're in," he told BBC Radio Humberside.

"I'd like to be hands on because I think I could make the club be a bit more fashionable.

"It's not necessarily just about making an investment, I want to get my hands dirty and help the club.

"I don't think it's a club that just needs money throwing at it, they need someone with some experience"

Hobson also confirmed that the position of chairman which will be left vacant by the departing Steve Wharton is something he may be interested in at the end of the season.
