Reports earlier in the week suggested that a deal had been done, but both clubs are tyring to play down the speculation.

Dawson travelled with the squad on a end of season break over the weekend, and Iron manager Brian Laws was set to sit down with the player to discuss his future.

Hull Chairman Adam Pearson had admitted an interest in Dawson, while Hull manager Peter Taylor has said that he is a player he is `looking at`.

He said: "He's a player I'm aware of and I know him and what he's capable of but I don't want to say too much at this stage.

"I know that he's out of contract and he's just one of a number of players I know about.

"It's a similar situation to other players I am looking at, I know about them, I like what they can all do but I don't want to talk too much about Dawson."
