Iron could make loan signings

The Iron boss told BBC Radio Humberside after the game on Saturday that he has been offered a young striker on loan, who he will take a look at in a reserve game on Monday.

Top scorer Billy Sharp sustained ligament damage in Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Swansea and may be out for some time, making striking cover an urgent priority.

Veteran forward Tommy Johnson has been linked with a move to Conference outfit Tamworth and, should he leave, United will be left with only Andy Keogh, Steve Torpey and Andy Parton as striking options ahead of the relegation run-in if Sharp's lay-off is as long as expected.

Meanwhile Laws also confirmed that he is looking to strengthen elsewhere, with a goalkeeper believed to be a target.

Both Tom Evans and Paul Musselwhite have failed to convince between the sticks so far this season, with the latter earning a first team recall for the Swansea game on Saturday.

The Iron have the worst defensive record in League One and that will be something Laws will be hoping to plug ahead of an end of season run-in that sees the Iron face eight out of 13 games away from home.
