The Iron boss confirmed this morning that Clarke, who impressed during a loan spell last season, is available for transfer.
“I know he’s available because of their financial situation, but he’s also on a very healthy wage as well.
“I think, personally, Leon will want to be at least playing in League One".
“Realistically we wouldn’t have any hope of getting Leon, not at this stage.
"That doesn't mean that we can't go in (and try), and I know the chairman will back us up".
