Iron fans plan fundraiser for youth

The Iron's youth infrastructure needs rebuilding following the departure of youth development officer Paul Wilson to League One rivals Doncaster Rovers - with many of the scouts and coaches who worked on the setup following him to South Yorkshire.

His replacement, former United striker Tony Daws, wrote to the OSC explaining that he needs around £5,000.

The OSC will hold a night at the Ferry Road Club on September 30, with a set from Scrapyard Dogs.

Money raised will go towards the schoolboy sides up to under-16 level, rather than the club's youth trainees.

Plans are in place for a children's Halloween party, which has been given the date of October 30 and will take place in the Iron Bar.

A date has also been set for the annual childrens' Christmas party, which will be held in the Iron Bar at Glanford Park on December 18 - with entrance free.

There are also plans for an adult Christmas event, which could be held in a marquee outside the Old Farmhouse pub.

The popular half-time Crossbar Challenge will return this season, with the prize money starting from £25.
