Iron heading to Ibiza

The Iron will contest the San An Cup in the week beginning July 8 2006, competing against a local representative side and at least one other English club.

United will play two games in San Antonio, on the Western coast of the Balearic island.

The competition has been running for several years, but was renamed the San An Cup this pre-season after being known as the Copa de Ibiza.

Iron boss Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "There is a well organised itinerary for supporters to come and join us.

"It's not just a tournament for us, but one for them to join us and have a holiday where they ar guaranteed some sun. We hope as many as possible will come with us."

Official travel trips will cost more than £300, with organisers warning this is the only way entrance to the 1,500 capacity S.D.Portmany stadium will be assured.
