The experienced 29-year-old central midfielder has previously enjoyed spells with Stoke City, Cambridge United, Kidderminster Harriers, Blackpool and Mansfield Town.

He has been out of favour at Moss Rose this season, but has made seven appearances for Brian Horton's men, scoring two goals.

The player's loan deal lasts until December 31 and he will wear squad No.27.

MacKenzie will be eligible to play in the FA Cup second round game at Aldershot Town on December 3, and Tuesday's re-arranged LDV Vans Trophy match at Halifax.

Iron boss Brian Laws has been short of options in the middle of the park, with Richard Hinds and Ian Baraclough suspended for the game with Brentford on Saturday.

Matt Sparrow is also a slight doubt for the match, as he is nursing a knock.
