The 21-year-old has handed in a transfer request at Glanford Park, with his agent claiming it is because his contract only has 12 months left to run.

United have since offered him a new deal to stay at the club, and the player's agent insists he is fully committed to the Iron.

"Marcus is happy at United, and will always give 100 per cent for the club," said his spokesman Nick Rubery, to the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"Since the transfer request we have had a letter from the club offering a new deal."

Williams is being chased by West Bromwich Albion.
