The Northern Ireland international finished as the Iron's top scorer this season, but has asked to leave the club following relegation from the Championship.

Paterson handed in the written request after holding talks with the Iron's acting chairman Rex Garton and chief executive Jamie Hammond.

Burnley have already had two bids, the highest worth £550,000 rejected. Norwich and Cardiff have also been linked with the former Stoke player.
