The 18-year-old has proved a revelation for Nigel Adkins' men in a relatively disappointing season, which has seen United relegated from the Championship.

Cork has excelled on the pitch this season, and Adkins has tipped the youngster to represent England later in his career.

It took Cork a few games to find his feet in the Championship when he was thrown in at the deep end for the away game at Colchester in September, but his performance at Watford last week is testament to how far he has come during his time at Glanford Park.

The side recorded an unlikely 1-0 win, and the youngster was the driving force in midfield in argubally one of his best performances of the season.

And Cork wants to repay the fans with one last performance tomorrow, before he leaves to start pre season training with parent club Chelsea.

"It's been a year of ups and downs, but overall I've really enjoyed it despite us going down. I've met some really good people here who I'll definitely keep in touch with, and I'm grateful to the fans and the manager for giving me a chance", he told scunthorpe-united.co.uk

"When I first came here I had to deal with not being in the team and I think that, even though it is hard at the time, it has proven beneficial for me because it taught me how to cope with not being in the team. It was good for me.

"I always said that if I get a chance I would take it and try and do whatever I could to stay in the team. I've worked really hard and think I've done as best as I can."

Manager Nigel Adkins is thrilled with Cork's progression and is delighted that the club have forged links with one of England's best football sides.

"He's a young player who we brought in from Chelsea, and from the point of view of the club we have now developed fantastic links with Chelsea Football Club. They've been elated with his development.

"He's been absolutely phenomenal. We can't rate him highly enough with his attitude, his commitment, his professionalism, and we can all see how he's blossomed into a mature young man, and he's coped admirably.

"He's been outstanding in every game for us on the Championship stage."

Cork is set to recieve a terrific reception from the United fans, who have warmed to the likeable youngster over his season long stay.

It is undeniable that he has a big future ahead of him.
