Keogh loan extended

The 18-year-old joined United from Leeds United on the eve of the new season, along with Stockport youngster Matt Bailey.

Keogh had to settle for a place on the bench in the opening wins over Rochdale and Cheltenham, but his assist for Matty Sparrow against Dale and his goal at Whaddon Road saw him elevated into the starting lineup at Oxford on Saturday.

He struggled to make an impact in the game, but looked to be forming a good understanding with Paul Hayes.

Leeds will not allow him to play in the Carling Cup game at Nottingham Forest, where his place will be taken by fellow loanee Bailey.

Iron manager Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "Stockport have agreed to let Bailey play in the Carling Cup, but Leeds do not want any of their youngsters cup-tied and so Keogh won't be involved.

"They have though agreed to allow us to keep him on loan for another month and that is pleasing because both of the loan players have looked lively while they have been with us.

"With Bailey's height and Keogh's pace we have two different options and each of them contributes to the team differently.

"I'm still on the search for a new front man, but it's going to have to be some player to take their places at the moment that's for sure."
