Laws delight at win

United fell behind against the Shrimpers on the half-hour mark, but hit back with a quick equaliser from Steve Torpey.

In-form striker Paul Hayes put the Iron ahead, and netted a winner eight minutes from time after the visitors had equalised.

A delighted Laws said: "There was great passing, movement and some great goals scored, at both ends.

"It was a thoroughly deserved win as well. It would have been a crying shame if we had lost.

"We had about 16 attempts at goal to their four. Overall I'm delighted with the response. We could have so easily cracked under the pressure.

"Their first goal particularly came against the run of play. Last season we probably would have collapsed there and then.

"To equalise so quickly and then take the lead before half-time was crucial.

"We should have scored the third goal earlier, and if we had that would have killed the game off and we could gone on to score a few more."
