Laws fishing for a right-back

Regular right-back Nathan Stanton will miss Saturday's game, the first League meeting between the sides in 14 years, through suspension.

He was red carded in the top-of-the-table clash at Leyton Orient last week, and starts a three-match ban.

Boss Laws is scouring the Football League for a temporary replacement, but is only being offered youngsters by other clubs.

United do have options already, including bringing Cliff Byrne or Mark Jackson into the side or using Wayne Graves out of position.

Laws has also hinted he could switch to three at the back, operating a wing-back system.

But at the moment his priority remains bringing in a replacement.

He has, however, ruled out a move for Macclesfield's Mark Bailey.

Rumours appeared last night on the Iron-Bru.net messageboard that United were close to a deal for the former Lincoln player.

Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "At the moment I have a number of irons in the fire, but not one of them is Bailey.

"I have spoken to a number of clubs, but all I have been offered so far are young players and I am not too interested in those.

"I would rather use one of my own youngster's than someone else's."

Saturday's game is guaranteed to be United's largest crowd of the season, with over 7,700 tickets sold. Around 700 terrace tickets remain for the all-ticket clash, with the three other stands sold-out.

To secure a ticket either call 01724 848077, or call at Glanford Park. Fans will be asked to prove residence in the area, or their alliegance to the club.
