Laws: Rebuilding is my hardest job

Laws pointed the finger of blame towards Alan Knill as relegation was all but confirmed after the 2-1 reverse at Bury.

"I'm proud of this football club and what we've built – myself, Russ Wilcox and Nigel Adkins – over the years," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"We've put some great foundations into this football club and people from afar have admired how we have approached football in general and financially run the club.

"The club needs to be rebuilt again and that has to start again this summer.

"It's probably going to be my hardest job, probably in my 20 years of management.

Only Sam Slocombe, Christian Riberio, Callum Kennedy, David Mirfin, Mike Grella and Connor Jennings are under contract for next season, along with youngsters Jamie Wootton, Luke Hornsey and George Grayson, who have signed professional deals.

"Changing a lot of bodies is something we need to do.

"It's the only way forward, to get players into this football club who care."
