Laws: The pressure is still on

A second half goal from Steve Torpey was enough to give United all three points, and keep five points away from second club Carlisle.

For Scunthorpe to be relegated they would have to lose both remaining games against Cambridge and Darlington.

Carlisle would have to beat Cheltenham and champions-elect Doncaster.

Laws said: "The pressure is still on, but it was a relief to get a result, three points and a clean sheet is a huge step for the team. We had to work hard, but we stuck to the task.

"We have got to believe that Carlisle will win both their games and that means we still need one more point, the pressure is not off yet.

"I thought we coped well with the pressure. I'm relieved to have finally got a win under our belts again, the first one in ten games.

"Steve Torpey will get the plaudits for the goal that earned us the win but out keeper has also earned us the points with some vital saves in each match."

His opposite number Brian Horton said: "I was happy with our performance but disappointed with the result as I thought we deserved a point and thought we deserved a penalty."
