Laws: The results will come

United had to settle for a point, twice levelling after falling behind to the side that were relegated from the Championship last season.

Substitute Andrea Ferretti, on-loan from Cardiff, almost snatched a late winner for Scunthorpe with a glancing header that Ben Williams tipped away at full stretch.

"We had enough chances to have won the game and it's disappointing that we didn't," confessed Laws.

"We caused Crewe all sorts of problems with our movement upfront and played some of the best football we have done this season. It was a disappointing decision to see the penalty given against us but then I felt our penalty was a soft decision too.

"The biggest disappointment for me was to concede a second goal so soon after half-time.

"That's the sort of thing we have to cut out, but we are playing well and I am sure the results will come."

Crewe manager Dario Gradi was happy to leave North Lincolnshire with a point.

"We struggled defensively in the first half before improving after the interval," he admitted.

"We have only lost one of our opening three games and I'm quite pleased with the way we are shaping in this division.

"The only team to beat us was Doncaster who I think will do very well this season.

"Our biggest problems are at the back, but I thought we went some way towards solving them here."
