Laws v Rush clash renewed

In the top-versus-bottom clash, a phrase very rarely used in reference to Scunthorpe as the 'top' team, Laws will lead his side agains Rush's men.

Rush took over the Conference Champions after Mark Wright walked out on the club at the start of the season, Wright had been having an affair with a player's fiancee and tried to sell star striker Daryl Clare leading to a deterioration of his relationship with chairman Stephen Vaughan.

Laws said: "I'm looking forward to seeing Ian, though he tormented me when he was at Liverpool.

"When Ian played his game plan was based on hard work, and he will bring that to Chester. I believe he will instill that into his players."

And Laws, who has now spent more than eight years in the Glanford Park hotseat - barring a three week absence last season - believes Rush is right to prove his managerial credentials in the lower leagues.

He added: "He is getting his hands dirty, and that is I believe the only way a manager should start.

"The grounding it gives you, learning in the lower divisions, is tremendous and you have to muck in."
