Laws: We deserved defeat

A 13th minute header from Matt Hocking was enough to give the Gulls a 1-0 win, bringing to an abrupt end United's hopes of a revival in form - boosted by Saturday's win over high-flying Northampton.

Laws was left fuming with the goal, the Iron midfield and the entire second half performance.

He said: "We are very disappointed, we have given them the goal.

"In the first half in particular I thought we were doing ok - but to give a goal like that against a team that was doing so well is disappointing. They deserved that win, we deserved nothing.

"I thought our midfield was very, very poor. I will be on the phone as soon as I get on the bus trying to sort something out, we cannot go into the game against York like this.

"We have travelled a long way for this and I feel for the supporters.

"They have come to this park and they wanted to see us perform as well as we possibly can. There is no qualms about the result."
