Legend is guest of honour

The Spanish midfielder, who retired from the game this summer after a seven-year spell at Glanford Park, is making his first return to North Lincolnshire.

He wrote himself into the club's history books with the winning goal in the 1999 play-off final at Wembley, and his departure from the club was marked with a unity match at the end of last season which was attended by a host of stars from the world of football.

He will give a speech in the club restaraunt before the match, and will be presented to the crowd before kick-off.

Iron manager Brian Laws will name an unchanged side for the game, with in-form striker Paul Hayes declared fit after limping out of the midweek win over Southend with an ankle injury.

The Glovers are without captain Terry Skiverton, as well as Scott Guyett and Adam Lockwood.

Laws is expecting a tough game from the visitors, despite their long coach journey from Somerset.

He said: "Yeovil are going to be a difficult test, they are up there at the top end and the one thing we will get from them is football.

"They don't come to try and block you, they get the ball down and play in the right manner.

"I have great admiration for Yeovil, the game will be a great advert for League Two football."

In former Grimsby forward Phil Jevons they boast the top scorer in the division, but Laws is hoping that home advantage could be crucial - that, and the small matter of Paul Hayes.

He added: "If we can show the form that we did against Wycombe and Southend then the supporters are going to be in for a cracking match.

"We have to use our home advantage, and the supporters have been great in the last two games. They can be key for us to get the result and it is important for them to get right behind us today."
