The `Scotland Future` international at Tannadice Park next Wednesday (KO 19:45) is designed to allow manager Berti Vogts to take a look at potential new faces for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign.

MacLean is one of a number of new names in the squad, including Tommy Miller of Ipswich Town and Doncaster Rovers' Michael McIndoe.

He will miss the LDV Vans Trophy game against Bury on the Tuesday night, but should return in time to play in the Third Division derby against Hull City on the Saturday.

Vogts said: "This match marks the first stage of our World Cup campaign, as it gives these players a chance to show what they can do.

"Our young players need international football experience, and for those players not involved in the Champions League or UEFA Cup, this is a great opportunity to get that experience."
