United were 3-1 down at half-time, but despite a strong second half performance lost out 4-2.

Wilcox said: "They were absolutely magnificent in the second half, it was a test of desire to come back but the first half was disappointing. It could have been four, five or six goals.

"You're never going to win games conceding four goals, but there were improvements. Overall we're disappointed.

"It is tight down there, but we should not be look at other teams' results. We've got to keep our fingers crossed that results go for us tomorrow.

"It is in our hands, we can take a lot of heart from the second half performance and can go on to show people we're fighting tooth and nail for Scunthorpe United."
