The 19-year-old, a Cameroon U-21 international, has yet to make his senior debut for the club after joining from French side Nantes in the summer.
He impressed enough in a 45-minute spell in a pre-season friendly against Chesterfield, but suffered the ankle problem in a Lincolnshire Senior Cup tie against Lincoln.
And he aggravated the injury when he tried to return for United's reserves against Hull, prompting keyhole surgery.
