Morris heads to Malaysia

The coach Don Givens has named 19 players in his squad for the tournament, which will see the Republic take on Iraq and Nigeria as well as the hosts Malaysia in the group stage.

Two top two teams from the group will go through to the semi-finals, where they will come up against Croatia, Argentina, Ghana or Australia.

"We have a very young squad going out. The other teams involved in the tournament are all U-23, so we will have the youngest squad there," said Givens.

"However, I think that it is a great opportunity to have a look at players who will be eligible for the next Under-21 qualifying campaign."
