The United goalkeeper, who was outstanding against Leicester City at the weekend has one year left on his contract at Glanford Park, so would command a fee if he was to leave at the end of the current season.

Murphy conceeded he would have to 'wait and see' at the end of the season because he would love to break into the Ireland team and has a perfect opportunity under new coach Giovanni Trapattoni.

Today's Daily Star suggests potential Championship suitors including Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday are likely to be interested.

"Anything can happen in football and we've still got to keep looking at that fourth-bottom position" the Irishman told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"We've got to keep fighting because we've still got things to play for here."
