The Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough could hand debuts to new signings Paul Reid and Abdisalam Ibrahim at Leeds United on Saturday.

They go straight into contention to start, and Baraclough will be glad of the options after describing last week's performance at Everton as a "training game".

Ibrahim will be in contention for a starting berth as midfielder Michael O'Connor is a doubt with a knee injury sustained in training on Thursday.

It might save the Northern Ireland international from a frosty reception from Iron fans, after criticising the booing of players earlier in the week.

A starting place could also open up for Reid as three defenders are dounts - Cliff Byrne and Rob Jones both have back concerns, while David Mirfin has a knee injury. Forward Garry Thompson is a doubt with a groin injury.

Leeds could welcome back captain Richard Naylor for the first time since November.

He came through 45 minutes for Leeds reserves in their 3-0 win at Glanford Park on Tuesday night and could be on the bench when the senior teams meet.

Patrick Kisnorbo remains out with an Achilles injury, while midfielder Neil Kilkenny is in Qatar as part of the Australia team taking part in the Asian Cup finals.
