No loan system change means relief for Laws

Last season Laws made six loan signings as United won promotion from League Two.

The year before he made eight and he admits that the use of loans helps smaller clubs survive.

"Hearing the loan system might be taken away was a huge blow," Laws explained to FourFourTwo magazine.

"Everybody's been waiting to find out what would happen from the League. A lot of clubs were holding off as long as possible because it could be the difference of a minimum £100,000 to a club for an extra four players.

"That's a huge amount for most lower league clubs, it could be as much as 20 percent of your budget depending on where you are and the size of your club."

You can read more from Laws about the loan system, a four-page spread about pre-season training with United, Ian Botham's recollections of his time playing for the Iron, plus a pre-season preview from Iron-Bru.net in this month's FourFourTwo. Costing just £3.99 and available from all good stockists.
