Police crackdown on hooligans

Operation Micus has been created to film hooligans at Glanford Park, or at Third Division grounds across the country.

So far 11 Scunthorpe United `supporters` have received banning orders after their actions were caught on camera and used as evidence in court.

As part of the scheme anyone caught offending at grounds could find their picture splashed across local media in a bid to identify them.

Geoff Walker, an analyst of the tapes, told the Scunthorpe Telegraph - which will print any images - that troublemakers are easily identified.

He said: "The ones who are looking for trouble can be easily identified because they are the ones who don't watch the match. If people went to see the football they would not get involved in this type of activity.

"The disturbing thing is there are often very small kids stuck in the middle of it."
