Promotion holds no fears for Laws

United sealed promotion with a goalless draw at Shrewsbury, and Laws was quick to praise the hard work of the entire staff at the club.

And he singled out the return of Steve Wharton as chairman as key in hsi side's success this season.

He said: "The new chairman sorted things out and everybody is pulling in the same direction these days.

"The team has played with great consistency, and the spirit within the club could not be better.

"The players who have won us promotion will be here next season, with perhaps a couple of new faces. I am not predicting anything but I can't see any reason why we should not do well in League One."

As Scunthorpe players celebrated in front of their fans at the final whistle Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters, who transformed the relegation strugglers he took charge of a few months ago said "I don't like other teams celebrating on our pitch. We should be doing the celebrating.

"But there is still a lot of work to do here. Scunthorpe are three years ahead of us in terms of development, so I am not promising anything next season.

"My first job here is to get a team together that is guaranteed to stay in League Two and not worry about going down."
