Reserve team to return next season

The Iron's second string has been limited to friendly fixtures this campaign, after previous boss Alan Knill opted not to enter a second string competition.

The decision was taken to allow the youth team more time to focus on training, rather than making up the numbers for reserve games the club was contracted to

"I have spoken to the board and they were unanimous that we will bring it back," said Laws, speaking to shareholders at the club's annual general meeting on Monday evening.

"It has been difficult to get competitive games for the team. There has to be a level to step up to the first-team."

Laws also indicated the club's contract with Scout7 would not be renewed beyond this season.

Scout7 provide scouting reports on the Iron's opponents, but Laws suggested he could not trust the service after reading reports from games he had watched and coming to different conclusions.

He also said the club would make an offer to Leon Clarke, who is available on a free transfer from Charlton, in January, but expects other sides to offer him higher wages.
