Russ - We should have won

First half goals from Steve MacLean and Andy Butler earned United a point from the relegation clash.

Caretaker manager Russ Wilcox said: "I thought we did enough overall to win the game, you look at the stats and we got 11 corners and nine shots on target to their five.

"It was disappointing defending, but the pleasing thing was the way we reponded.

"We could have lied down and died but they showed how much they cared for the club to go 2-1.

"Both sides are struggling at the wrong end of the table and for me there was not a bad tackle out there yet there were 11 bookings

"The crowd's reaction tells you everything about the ref's performance to be honest."

Rochdale manager Steve Parkin said: "We made a great start, Leo Bertos got a well-worked goal and put in a good performance but we never defended properly, we were much too deep.

"In the second half Scunthorpe never hurt us and we might have snatched it towards the end."
