First choice shotstopper Tommy Evans has conceded fourteen goals in the first seven league games, and Laws is keen to cut down that number.

He said: "We're trying to address the problems we've caused ourselves at the moment, we've been playing some fantastic football but its overshadowed by the errors that we've shown and we have to work on it, so we're hoping for a big improvement on that more than anything.

"It's more an organisational thing more than anything else and the confidence factor is obviously setting in. We can't keep conceding two goals a game because we're putting the onus on the strikers to score three and four and at some stage they're going to dry up."

If Laws does decide to drop Evans it will mean on loan goalkeeper Sam Russell will make his first appearance since joining the Iron last month.

Russell is keen to play first team football having been restricted to only reserve appearances at the Riverside.

He said: "Hopefully I can get my chance tonight and show what I can do. I wasn't getting any chance at Middlesborough so the next best thing was to come on loan and get some experience, so hopefully I'm going to get that now."

Iron player coach Peter Beagrie is also hoping to return for tonight's game having missed United's last two games with a thigh injury.
