Togwell is likely to go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Walsall, but whether he will start remains to be seen.
"He's an energetic player - that's for sure - and he will get around the field of play. He is the sort of player who can compliment the other players that we've got.
"He's a ball-winner. His nickname at Barnsley was 'Dogwell' for the simple reason that he runs around the pitch trying to win the ball.
"We need his energy in there, we want to play high-tempo football.
He joins on a free transfer, and turned down a move to Yeovil to join the Iron.
