In the event, held at Huntingdon Racecourse in Cambridgeshire, was once again fiercely contested although Scunny Bunny (SB) failed to keep up with the pace despite the large number of dogs snapping at his heels.

Chaddy The Owl came in first, but SB was right in there questioning the boots Chaddy was wearing. There was also a seperate query that an imposter had not infiltrated their ranks.

However all was deemed acceptable, and Chaddy picked up his trophy. And a page three model.

"After what happened last year we just wanted to make sure that the winner was the mascot he claimed to be," confirmed a spokeswoman for the RaceCourse ths evening.

"We also considered a complaint that he wasn't wearing regulation pantomime boots from Scunny Bunny.

"But we are happy that everything was above board and the result should stand.

"I think we have to remember when considering these kind of complaints that it is only a bit of fun."
