United fielded a fairly strong side, with Matt Sparrow, Josh Lillis, Grant McCann, Jake Picton, Pete Winn, Andrew Wright and Joe Wilcox all in the starting line up.

There was also 70 minutes for Cameroonian Alex Morfaw, who again managed to show why he may be offered a new deal for next season.

After a lively opening it was United who took the lead. A corner from the right wasn't cleared, and Picton laid the ball of to Sparrow, who lashed the ball home from the edge of the box.

Grant McCann made it two before the break with an excellent left footed curler from the edge of the area, that gave Cherry in the Lincoln net no chance.

The second half was all United and they piled on the pressure which eventually took its toll.

A fine cross from Andrew Wright was met by Sparrow for his second of the game, which virtually ensured the cup was United's.

However, they searched for more. The impressive Jake Picton headed home powerfully from a Pete Winn corner before an excellent move was capped by an untidy but nevertheless, fifth goal courtesy of Jamie Hales.

The visitors offered little in attack, but young striker Dany N'Guessan was the pick of a poor side.

Watched by a couple of hundred inside Glanford Park, it finished United five, Lincoln nil.
