Shrewsbury fail in Sharp bid

30-year-old Sharp has not been able to force his way back into the first-team following a pre-season knee injury.

Shrews manager Gary Peters had hoped to take over his contract for the rest of the season, but Iron boss Brian Laws wants to keep strength in depth for the rest of the season.

He said: "Shrewsbury wanted to take his contract over but we've said "no". I think Kevin Sharp is better than that.

"The competition between him and Lee Ridley is fierce. That's what we want."
