It is the second serious injury suffered by an Iron player this pre-season, with striker Ramon Calliste ruled out for six months after suffering ankle ligament damage and chipping a bone.

Iron boss Brian Laws expects the Doncaster-born player to be out for six weeks, meaning he'll miss the start of the season and also be behind on his pre-season fitness schedule.

Goalkeeper Joe Murphy also came off during Tuesday night's game with a thigh strain, but it was a precautionary measure and he will be fine for the new season.
